“Arth didn’t start with a plan. It started with a feeling. That feeling most people have in their twenties — that you’re capable of something bigger than what’s right in front of you.”
We met in college. One of us in styling, one in design. For two years we talked about building something with real intention behind it. The conversations kept coming back to the same thing — clothes. Not fashion. Clothes.
After graduating, we got jobs. One in a styling studio. One at a design firm. We learned what good craft looks like. We learned what cutting corners feels like. We paid attention.
“No investors, no shortcuts — just our salaries saved up with one goal in mind, and seven months of pouring everything we had into something we truly believed in.”
Arth — a Sanskrit-derived Hindi word for meaning. We wanted to make clothes people genuinely love reaching for. Two years from the first conversation to the first collection. A hundred more ideas already in our heads. We’re just getting started.
Arth didn’t start with a plan. It started with a feeling.
That feeling most people have in their twenties – that you’re capable of something bigger than what’s right in front of you. That somewhere between who you are and who you’re becoming, there’s something worth building.
We met in college. Became best friends by second year. The kind of friendship that just quietly becomes the best part of your story.
And somewhere between deadlines, chai breaks, and figuring out who we were – the idea came up. We should start something of our own. Something with real intention behind it. We said it constantly, eyes lit up every single time, like it was the first time we were saying it. We did absolutely nothing about it. And honestly? Maybe we weren’t ready yet.
Then we graduated, got jobs – one of us in styling, one in design – and looking back, it feels like the universe was just quietly preparing us. Every project, every brief, every moment spent thinking about craft and fabric and detail was adding up to something we couldn’t see clearly yet but could absolutely feel.
So when we finally decided to go for it – everything clicked. No investors, no shortcuts – just our salaries saved up with one goal in mind, and seven months of pouring everything we had into something we truly believed in. Sourcing, designing, second-guessing, scrapping, redoing. Figuring it out as we went, and loving every bit of it.
The name was the easiest part. Arth – a Sanskrit-derived Hindi word for meaning. We wanted to make clothes people genuinely love reaching for – that look beautiful, feel effortless, and carry the kind of thought and care you can actually feel when you wear them. And knowing that choosing Arth also means supporting slow craft and conscious making – that’s not a bonus. That’s the whole point. The word held all of that. We locked it and never looked back.
Two years from the first conversation to the first collection. A hundred more ideas already in our heads. And the best part? We’re just getting started.
We use handloom fabrics sourced from Indian artisans, celebrating traditional craftsmanship and supporting rural livelihoods.
